Stress in itself is not always a bad thing. Some stress can have a positive influence, but too much stress for too long can be harmful to our mental and physical health. 

In today’s modern world we’re busier than ever. A constant bombardment can cause an increase in the stress hormones adrenaline and cortisol. These hormones switch on our ‘fight or flight’ mode and raise our blood pressure and blood sugar. These changes help us survive short periods of stress, but they hurt us when they continue for years. 

Long term stressors create an over production of cortisol. This can leave you feeling burnt out and you may have difficulty returning to your former chilled out self. One in six adults in Britain experience depression, anxiety or problems relating to stress at any one time.
